Nile Rodgers & CHIC

At B.B. King's, NYC - 2/16/01

At 8:25pm, Chic (featuring Nile Rodgers) started their 70's funk flashback show with "Le Freak"......it was full of scratchy rhythm guitar funkiness by Nile, a standout, stank-ass bass solo by Jerry, good horn-work by trumpeteer Mack and tenor saxophonist Bill, and some tight synthesizer riffs by Rich Hilton and Merlene Nelson!! "Dance Dance Dance (Yowsa Yowsa Yowsa)" featured moments of "galloping" bass riffs and good congas by Jerry Velez, who played at Woodstock '69 in Jimi Hendrix's band!!! Th song also featured Merlene doing some piano funk and Nile playing some sweet, off-da-hook rhythm guitarlines that'll make ya slap yo mama!! "Everybody Dance" had everyone dancing, as Jerry did an amazing bass funk solo that could have melted the restaurant!!! "I Want Your Love" featured a kick-ass funk romp duo by Nile and Jerry! The drums (by Omar Hakeem) & percussion were very tight! Chic did a medley of tunes that were written for other folks........"I'm Coming Out" and "Upside Down" (sung by Diana Ross), and "He's the Greatest Dancer" and "We Are Family" (sung by Sister Sledge). The sexy keyboardist Merlene was the lead vocalist on "I'm Coming Out". Nile introduced all the members of the band before Chic did the last song, "Good Times". "Good Times" was FONKAY with some driving bass riffs & funky scratchy guitar licks!!! The song included "Rapper's Delight" (by the Sugar Hill Gang). By the way, all of these songs were perfectly sung by the super-sexy female duo, Silver Logan Sharpe and Audra Lomax......Silver wore a revealing, silver top and Audra wore a gold bra and nothing else on top)!! The show was over at 9:30pm.
