CLONES OF FUNK

At the Takoma Station Tavern - Washington, DC (10/31/03)

At 10:20pm, the Halloween party got off to a scary start with some "P-Funk (Wants to Get Funked Up)" featuring the funky vocals of Wesley Bean and Scrape (who was wearing an alien mask)! Gene McBride was the highlight with his orgasmic keyboardisms on "Mothership Connection"! Lead guitarist Mike McHenry burned the club with some high-wattage guitar riffs on "NIght of the Thumpasorus Peoples" and "Get Off Your Ass and Jam"!! "Toast to the Boogie" featured the wonderful horn work of saxophonist Jerry Queene and trumpeteer Mike! The drumming was great on "Good to Your Earhole", thanks to Mark Brown (By the way, Clones alumnus drummer, Tom "FatherThyme/Smack Daddy" Wilson was checking out the show)!! "Tear the Roof Off the Sucka" was nice, but somewhere in the show, there were some seriously funkafied, stank-ass bass solo by Terre Holland.....Terre was doing stuff like "The Jam" (by Graham Central Station) and "Slide" (by Slave)! "Red Hot Momma" (a guitar scorcher) somehow sounded better with the addition of a conga player! The first set ended at 11:40pm.
