JIMMY CASTOR BUNCH

At S.O.B.'s, NYC (8/16/02)

At 8:40pm, the Jimmy Castor Bunch got off to a great beat with "A Groove Will Make You Move"....a great solid bass line with a bridge section that sounded a little like "Potential". "Potential" (the next song) featured super-funky bass riffs, good rhythm guitar riffs and some funny pronunciations of the word "potential"!!

Much better was the heavily funky "Supersound", featuring the super-fantastic percussion soloist himself....The E-Man, Mr. Everything Man, Mr. Troglodyte Supreme, The Funky Count Dracula..........(drum roll)........Jimmy Castor!!!! Super-heavy bass and super-funky synthesizer riffs permeated throughout the song and throughout the entire club!!

"Hey Leroy, Your Mama's Callin' You" was a good slice of some Latin music, while "Troglodyte (Cave Man)" had a funky rhythm (the drumwork and the bass riffs were excellent) to it! Of course, the Cave Man couldn't do without Bertha Butt....so what followed....."The Bertha Butt Boogie"! The vocal hook is just too infectious...."Bom bom bubba bom, b-u-m bom bom bom bubba bom"! The funky "Bertha Butt Boogie" was followed by two ballads, featuring the bad-ass Jimmy Castor on saxophone. "Bang Bang" (I hope that's the song title?!) was more of the 1950's rock music type. "It's Just Begun" featured some standout guitarwork and four dancers from FLASHDANCE doing their thang in the audience. "If You Don't Want My Lovin, Then Someone Else Will" was followed by "E-Man Boogie", featuring some great percussion! The show ended at 10:05pm.
