At
11:05pm, the Nappyhead Funk Army had the civilians march their way to the
irresistible funk of "Funk Y2K Infection", which followed a great majestic,
synthesized horn funk intro that also ended the show later. Carlton's bass
licks was the highlight of the "Funk Y2K" song, so pronounced that
the speakers trembled with every bass pluck!! I liked the funky breakdown
during the first and second verses of the song, where th band gave everyone
"2 quick hits" of the funk! "Fly on the Wall" was some
serious hardcore funk with Prez summoning the planet DOG STAR with his
intergalactic funk keyboardisms!!! The band got more patriotic with the band
marching in sync......the song: "Funk Army Mesh"!! "Dirty
Vamp" was just so dirty with the funky vocal harmonizing of Tanya Thillet
and vocals by #9. The Pearl offered some nasty, sinister keyboard riffs and
Andre LaSalle provided a sizzling lead guitar solo, hot enough to melt the
walls of Someplace Else!! After a little bit of "Awwww....shit!",
"Let's Take It to The Stage" and "Take Your Dead Ass Home",
the N-Funk Army went into a new song....funky with some tight drumming by Kevin
Harrington! Another new song, written by The Pearl, called "Put Your
Bottoms Up to Get Down" was a lighter funk song with hot, scratch rhythm
guitarwork by Groovalicious!! As Tanya tapped on the cowbell, vocalist Eric Jay
provided some raps for the song. The keyboard riffs were funky, almost
haunting!! "Come Together" was some hardcore rock.....the bad-ass
lead guitarist, Groovalicious, is a powerful MOFO!! "Jungle Boogie"
and "Sexy MF" were followed by some JB stuff like the line "The
long-haired hippies and the Afro-blacks all get together across the tracks and
they PARTIED!!" (from GET ON THE GOOD FOOT) and "Sex Machine".
"Funkemiftheycan'ttakeajoke" was DA SHIT.......the song had a couple
of breaks that were seriously mellower (at ballad pace).....where the band
would chant "NAPPYHEAD FUNK ARMY!" (This was a new change to the
song......it definitely works!) The last two minutes of "Funkem" were
full of hardcore funk, thanks to the montrous, in-your-face bassisms by
Carlton, lead guitarisms by Groovalicious & Andre, and the keyboardisms by
Prez and The Pearl that added spice to the funky stew!! A song composed by #9,
called "It's What I Do, It's What I Am" was DA BOMB....it was
bass-irific (thanks Carlton)!!! The keyboard work of Prez and The Pearl didn't
hurt either! "Tear the Roof Off the Sucka", "One Nation Under a
Groove", and "Knee Deep" were good. The usual guitar army and
Tanya's sizzling vocals & sex appeal worked the shit ouf of "Red Hot
Momma"! "Party Up in Here" was followed by "I Got a Thing,
You Got a Thing, Everybody's Got a Thing" and "Unfunky UFO", a
super-funky song that ended the show at 1:45am.
