Nappyhead Funk Army
At the Elbow Room in NYC - 4/13/01

At 1:30am, NYC's best funk band, NAPPYHEAD FUNK ARMY, began their set with some "Funk Y2K Infection", followed by "Fly on the Wall" (which featured some nasty keyboard riffs by Eric Wilson & Prez)!!

"Every Dog Has Its Day" is a new Nappyhead Funk Army tune that borrows its melody from Funkadelic's "Comin' Round The Mountain"......the extra-heavy bass licks by Carlton were super-funky as well as the scorching guitar solo by Mr. John "Groovalicious" Willis!!

"Funkemiftheycan'ttakeajoke" still sounded excellent with the superb lead vocals of #9 (Zack Roberson) and Tanya Thillet!! "Up For the Downstroke" was next, which incorporated some "Get Off Your Ass and Jam", "Let's Take It to the Stage" and "Take Your Dead Ass Home". "Tear the Roof Off the Sucka" was good, but "Atomic Dog" was better with "Pumpin' It Up" incorporated into it.....Zack (or should I say "#9") sounded better on this segment than in previous shows.......of course, Eric-Jay (background vocalist) and Ainsley Taylor (drummer) were still funky as ever!!! Interesting enough, John was singing some funk rap and #9 accompanied him.....WOT WAS THAT?! "Standing on the Verge of Gettin' It On" was the last song that I could remember........I was just pissed that there were only a handful of people that bothered to attend the show!! In addition to the poor crowd turnout, the club shut down the Nappyhead Funk Army show at 2:30am........2:30AM????!! WOT DA FUNK IS DAT SHIT??!! IF ONLY THE OTHER BAND GOT OFF THE STAGE EARLY, THE NAPPYHEAD FUNK ARMY WOULD HAVE MORE TIME!!!! DAMN!!!
