NAPPYHEAD FUNK ARMY

At Port Jazz - Port Jefferson, NY (Long Island) (9/20/03)

THE PORT JAZZ IS A HELL OF A GREAT PLACE TO SEE A FUNK CONCERT!!!! THE ROOM WAS PACKED WITH LOTS OF WONDERFUL NHFA FANS AND THEY WERE SERIOUSLY ON ANOTHER LEVEL WITH TRUE ADORATION FOR DA FUNK, BABA!!! ALSO, THIS WAS THE FIRST VENUE WHERE DR. BROOKENSTEIN STARTED HIS BUSINESS OF SELLING SOME OF THE COOLIEST "BLINKY-LIGHT" TRINKETS FOR 5 DOLLARS A PIECE! (SOMETHING TO ADD MORE FUNK TO THE CLUB!) AFTER A GOOD PROFIT, DR. BROOKENSTEIN WAS ABLE TO GIVE AWAY 20 ECONOMY-BRAND TAMBOURINES!! DO NOT BE ALARMED IF HE APPEARS WITH MORE MERCHANDISE FOR A MORE NHFA SHOW!!

BY THE WAY, I APOLOGIZE IF I'M MISSING SOME OF THE SONGS PLAYED (OR IF THE SONGS ARE IN THE WRONG ORDER).....I WAS SELLING STUFF DURING MOST OF THE SHOW!

At 11:00pm, the Nappyhead Funk Army started with some funky "Funk Army Mash", followed by "Funk Infection 2003" and "Sexy MF"....some funky rhythm guitarisms by Groovalicious! Lead vocalist #9 was on serious fire vocally, especially on "Play That Funky Music, White Boy"!! "Play That Funky Music" was da bomb, thanks to the smokin' bass riffs of Gary Bordies, tight drumming by The Technician and stank-ass synthesized riffs by The Pearl! "Fire" was on fire, and "Could You Be Loved?" was nice. The first set ended at 12:00 midnight.

At 12:35am, the NHFA came back with some patriotic funk called "America", followed by "God"....yes, God made these boyz funky!! Cameo's "Single Life" was great with some fiery lead guitarisms by Andy Lassalle and good rhythm guitarisms by Groovalicious!! Prez's spaced-out keyboardisms were the order on "Atomic Dog". Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" and "Jungle Boogie" were good. The second set was over at 1:30am.

At 1:50am, the NHFA came back again......this time, the music started with The Beatles "Come Together". "One Nation Under a Groove" was followed by "Knee Deep" featuring a rap by Eric-Jay! The bass funk was cookin' and the synthesized funk (thanks to Prez) was sprinkled all over the song! Gary cooked on a serious funk bass solo on "Flashlight" (it was so cool to see all of the blinking lights in the place, thanks to Dr. Brookenstein's light-up accessories)!! The party ended with a funk-de-force of "Party Up in Here/Unfunky UFO". The show ended at 2:40am.
