NAPPYHEAD
At the Elbow Room in NYC - 11/04/00

I would like to say that Nappyhead has done another stellar performance at the Elbow Room!! I also would like to thank Ms. Tanya Thillet for giving me a hundred paper cuts from the showers of confetti! (Yeah, HURT ME BABY........HURT ME!!) Eric Perl (of Deep Pocket) filled in on guitar, as John Willis & John Purvis were unable to make it. Mark Bass (of Rhythm Republik) filled in on bass.

At 1:50am (very late), Nappyhead started with some "Funk Y2K Infection", which incorporated a little bit of "Comin' Round The Mountain" and some noxious guitar funk by Eric Perl! Eric Wilson stanked up the joint with some noxious, nasty & sleazy keyboarding during the intro of "Fly on the Wall"! A snippet of "Funkemiftheycan'ttakeajoke" was followed by "Every Dog Has Its Dog", a funky uptempo song dominated by bass & keyboards--Mark Bass's bass riffs were strong and the gutiar licks were nasty! Some fans joined the funky, Nappyheaded fuckas onstage for the medley "Atomic Dog/Pumpin' It Up", which featured some funky bass, spacey synthesizer riffs by Eric Wilson & Prez!! "Up For the Down Stroke" incorporated "Let's Take It to The Stage", "Take Your Dead Ass Home", and the chant "Ain't No Party Like a Nappyhead party 'cuz a Nappyhead party don't stop!" There was an unnamed saxophonist who was excellent!

A funky jam ensued with Prez on synthesized horns and Eric Wilson on funky piano keys!
The energy level rose a whole lot with Tanya Thillet on passionate lead vocals on the breakdown of "Mothership Conection".......Zack Roberson gave up the funk immensely on main vocals......the Nappyheaded funk overlord rules!!!! The energy level continued with Zack and Tanya getting their groove on during "Red Hot Momma"......Tanya's vocals were electrifying! The nasty lead guitar intro was as spectacular as the strong drumbeats by Ainsley Taylor!! The heavy bassman Mark Bass ruled on "Funkemiftheycan'ttakeajoke"! "Unfunky UFO" was the last song, which featured "Undisco Kidd", "Party Up in Here", and a popular chant from one of Plainfield's newer funk bands, FUNK-KINN: "Somebody said......that funk is dead......why did they lie?......it's still alive!" Noxious synthesized grooves were slammin' on "Party Up in Here". The last spectacular event of the show was the smolderin' guitar madness of Eric Perl! The show ended at 3:30am.

THANK YOU, GEORGE CLINTON, FOR THE FUNK INSURANCE......TO WITHSTAND THE FUNK FORCE OF "N-FUNK" (NAPPY FUNK).........I MIGHT INCREASE MY COVERAGE LATER!!!
